Why I Changed Career to Data Engineering from Real Estate

First of all, this article is not meant to say Real Estate is a bad career path. Everyone has their own interest and it is simply not for me. I’ve worked with many wonderful people who have achieved amazing careers in Real Estate. In fact, I’ve met people who changed careers from STEM field to Real Estate and totally enjoying it.

The bottom line is, you need to know what you want.

I have a Bachelor Degree in Business, major in Property and have worked in real estate for about 10 years. I went on to study a postgraduate degree in Data Science and am now working as a Data Engineer.

The Job Itself

Data engineering and data science are jobs with high job satisfaction. They build solutions for businesses to make money, to save money and to make informed decisions.

The work is of high business value.

To me, I look forward to go to work everyday. It’s not just a job for me doing some mundane work. I know the work that I do are meaningful and have impact to companies. The work itself is challenging. I get to…
